The Fairmont-Marion County Transit Authority began its operations in 1973. From the very beginning our goal has been to deliver a caring, first-class service to the passengers, the community and each other. We have always been there when you needed us because we do take to heart our company slogan... "there's a lot riding on it." On May 11th, please keep us in mind and vote "yes" on the levy.

About the FMCTA
In 1973 the City of Fairmont and the Marion County Commission formed the Fairmont-Marion County Transit Authority. It is governed by a five-member board of directors. Two members are appointed by the City Council of Fairmont and two by the Marion County Commission . The fifth member is appointed jointly by both groups.
The board hires a manager, who oversees the day-to-day operations. The manager is responsible for personnel, policies, and accounting. The Manager supervises all the other departments, and all departments are responsible to the manager.
The departments consist of operations, dispatch and maintenace. These departments are broken down into human resources, finance, marketing, information technology, public relations, web & graphics, facilities, comm center, disaster response team and maintenance.

We are proud to serve the Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College student body. Our goal is to help the international students and incoming freshmen that don't have a vehicle. Our goal is to help all students especially when it comes to extra ciricular activities. Students want to be more involved in events that the school provides. The FMCTA is honored to help the university with Goal 5 of the Strategic Plan.

As of May, 2009, FMCTA offers transportation to the North Central West Virginia Airport. The North Central West Virginia Airport, formerly known as the Harrison-Marion Regional Airport, is a public airport located in Bridgeport serving Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown, Weston, Buckhannon, Elkins, Grafton and the surrounding areas in Harrison and Marion Counties, West Virginia, USA.
